Our store
We are a popular address for knitted clothing made from alpaca in Berlin
We are pleased that many Berliners see us as a small shop with a convincing knitting project. Anyone in the fashion and federal capital looking for a hand-knitted alpaca sweater for themselves, as a gift or for their children comes to us. Since Alpakita was founded in Berlin, we have pursued the goal of financially supporting Peruvian women for their handicrafts.
It is also important to us that craftsmanship skills are improved and passed on. In this way, we convey the message that handcraft has a future.
Visit us. You will be warmly welcomed in our shop-studio, take the handicraft into your own hands, pamper your skin with a special wool.
rbb was in Nehringstraße and visited us in the store
The visit from Andreas Jacob and his team was a very special New Year's gift. During the hard lockdown, our doors are also closed to visitors. Alpakita friends can order online. Like many other shops on Nehringstraße, we are trying to master this uncertain time.
The show was incredibly lively and informative. Even we, the Alpakita team, learned a lot of new things about Nehringstrasse. Many viewers of the Heimatjournal saw us and got in touch. We were incredibly touched by the emails and calls. Despite the lockdown, a lot is happening in and around Alpaktia. Thank you very much to everyone.
Andreas writes about Nehringstraße:
The flair of the street
The sophisticated old buildings characterize the streetscape. Cafés, restaurants, small shops, a good butcher and a children's theater make the street cozy and relaxed, say the residents. It is still a good mix, with young and old living there and people from different nations. Some of the houses used to be occupied and the demand that housing must remain affordable and people must not be displaced is still alive in the street today. People pay attention to the quality of life and good coexistence.
This is Andreas’ short description of Alpaktia:
fine knitwear from Peru
The "Alpakita" shop sells knitted items for children and adults made from alpaca wool. This wool is of a particularly high quality. The colorful, unique items are knitted by 35 women and one man from Peru - mostly by hand. The vision of the "Alpakita" owner Judy De Langer is that the people of Peru have a professional perspective and can finance their lives more sustainably.
Thank you very much, dear rbb team. Nehringstraße is worth a visit at any time of year. There are many highlights and we are one of them.
Alpakita's shop-studio in Berlin
As Sofia Mareschow writes in the Berliner Morgenpost, Alpakita is a piece of Peru that has come to Berlin, as a small shop-studio in the heart of Charlottenburg. An eye-catcher on Nehringstrasse. The cozy knitwear in the Klausenerplatz district with its neighborhood meeting places and local shops.
We have handmade clothing made from alpaca wool for all ages. You will find wonderful blankets, sweaters, hats, scarves and displays of baby clothes. Knitted dresses for children and coats and jackets for adults hang in rows.
We look forward to welcoming and advising you personally again soon.
store anniversary celebration 2018
On the first weekend of Advent, we celebrated our one-year store anniversary with great guests. Our small store in the neighborhood near Charlottenburg Palace was beaming. Many wonderful customers and friends visited us. Alpakita began with the first handicrafts 12 years ago. Step by step, we progressed and for a year now we have been able to open our Alpakita store door for you. That is great and we are proud of it. Alpakita has remained true to its concept all these years. By selling the handicrafts, you support the knitters.
Many thanks to everyone who visited us over the weekend and special thanks to everyone who loves our wool products. You give us the strength to continue the project, to design new, beautiful models and to work with joy.
The colorful alpaca pictures that were exhibited for the anniversary enchanted the room and made people's eyes sparkle. Many thanks to Nathalie, the alpaca artist. The colors of the pictures and the looks of the animals emphasized the warmth of the animals at this extraordinary event. We are pleased to be able to continue to exhibit some of the unique pictures.
